Cleansing Oil or Cleansing Balm?

Should I use a cleansing oil or cleansing balm is a question I have asked myself and the only way to know for sure is to use both in order to find out.

Before I went back to Singapore recently, I was mentally packing, thinking what I wanted to bring back and what to leave in South Korea. I didn't want to bring my half-used Heimish All Clean Balm (pictured above) as it might run out and I knew for sure I did not want to use anything else. So I figured it's a good chance for me to try a cleansing oil!

Why did I want to try a cleansing oil? While the balm worked really well for me, the usage was not super friendly. I mean, I'm a lazy girl. Using a pump (1 step) is so much more convenient than opening the balm container cover, remove the protective lid, scoop out some balm, put back the lid and cover (5 steps).

So, I ordered the Dear Klairs Deep Cleansing Oil online before flying off, and I used it for about a month before I decided to stop using it.

The Dear Klairs Deep Cleansing Oil did not clean as well as the Heimish All Clean Balm. Even after double cleansing, I sometimes still find eye make up residue but what really turned me off was my chin and cheeks started having clogged pores - those that appears bumpy under the skin, wiggles out when you try to squeeze it and if some of it was still left in the pore, it becomes inflamed and grows to a full blown pimple.

When I resumed using Heimish upon coming back to South Korea, those bumps reduced significantly, and so did the blackheads on my nose. Well I can't say all the blackheads on my nose are totally gone, but it has reduced by at least 50%. This cleansing balm is really something!

Even on days when I don't wear make up, I still use this as a first step to my double cleanse, because I believe that oil can fish out oil, so this can fish out the sebum produced throughout the day and clean my pores more thoroughly.

I recommended this to a friend with oily skin and blackhead problems and she too has found that her skin is so much better than before. We are never gonna switch makeup removers ever again!

P/S: this review is based on my own opinions and different products work differently for different people. if it doesn't work for me, it doesn't mean it wouldn't work for you, and vice versa. :)
