bangkok day 1 & 2 - platinum & asiatique

i am back! but still very much in holiday mood, thinking about the things i should have bought, should have eaten and.. the list goes on. nonetheless, i felt that this was a really good holiday! the past few times i've been to bangkok was for work (back then), all we did was camp at platinum mall and buy clothes, eat crepes and nothing else much. but this time round the bf and i went to slightly more touristy places and did more touristy things.

so! i'm going to be sharing some of the things you can do, visit and eat in bangkok when you visit, and this also serves as a pictorial itinerary for my next visit!

so we arrived in bangkok in the evening and the whole time i was just thinking that we should take a cab to the hotel but we got adventurous and thrifty (so we can have more money for shopping woohoo!) and took a train from the airport to the nearest station from our hotel and walked there! i was abit proud of myself for remembering how to get there by foot. teehee.

we stayed at novotel platinum bangkok, right next to the best shopping place ever, platinum mall. in my opinion this is the best - affordable, new, central to a lot of things. but of course if you are willing to spend a bit more, i heard amari watergate just opposite is pretty lux.

we checked in and decided to have dinner at asiatique which is open from 5pm to 12am. took a metered taxi and it cost us about 100baht and 40 minutes to get there. traffic is pretty jammed in the evenings so you might want to consider taking the train and then free ferry transfer if you have time (which we did the next day).

awesome papaya salad with salted egg from the asiatique food court!

now, platinum mall, other than the glorious shopping, also has pretty good food at the food court. and you can find my favourite crepes at the basement. the nutella and banana is a MUST TRY. it was SO DAMN GOOD.

and so we ended both days with full body massage and i would strongly recommend health land spa. it's clean, cosy and not too expensive. we went to the asoke branch because it was nearest to us, and it's walking distance from asoke station.

day 3 at terminal 21 and chinatown next!
